Young Handler Training and Obedience Fun Test

This year we will be joined by experts from the Training Plus Dog Training Club who will be running a special Young Handler Training and Obedience Fun Test.

The test will be FREE to enter and open to anyone under the age of 16. Plus everyone who completes the activities will receive a rosette and a certificate.

The tests will be marked on the below criteria:

Young Handlers who are 10 years and under

Dog to be on a lead at all times

Walk on a lead in a circle
Dog to ‘sit’ or ‘down’ on command
Dog to ‘come’ when called
‘Stay’ in any position for 10 seconds.

Young Handlers who are 11-16 years old

Dog to be on a lead unless instructed to remove it

Walk on lead in a figure of eight. Start and finish in a ‘sit’.
Dog to ‘sit’ and ‘down’ on command
‘Recall’ and ‘sit’ in front of handler
‘Sit stay’ for 15 seconds
‘Down stay’ for 30 seconds.

In both tests the young handlers can talk to their dog and carry a toy if they wish. Food cannot be used. Dogs to work on a loose lead.
