Yellow Space Zones

After launching the revoluntionary Yellow Space Zones at the All About Dogs Shows in 2024, we are proud to be supporting #DogsinYellow at the All About Dogs Show again this year.

For dogs that are a little anxious or need extra space, we’ll be providing special “Yellow Space Zones”. The areas will be staffed with knowledgeable volunteers and filled with enrichment toys giving dogs the chance to relax and explore the space with their owners.

Here’s some more information about the Yellow Space Zones from My Anxious Dog founder Sarah Jones:

Find Calm in the Chaos: The Yellow Space Zone

Dog festivals are a fantastic day out, packed with activities to try, shows to watch, and plenty of shopping! But for some dogs, the excitement can quickly become overwhelming.

That’s where our Yellow Space Zone comes in. A peaceful retreat designed for dogs who need a break from the hustle and bustle.

A Safe Haven for Anxious Dogs

Some dogs find the world a little too much at times. That’s why My Anxious Dog has created the Yellow Space Zone, inspired by ACE Free Work. This carefully designed space allows dogs to relax, explore at their own pace, and reset their nervous system.

What is ACE (Animal Centred Education) and Free Work?

Animal Centred Education (ACE) is an integrated approach to animal education and welfare, combining methods developed at Tilley Farm by Sarah Fisher, such as ACE Free Work, along with techniques inspired by animals and other professionals.

By using Free Work, you can open a window into your dog’s mind, creating two-way exchanges that help with problem-solving, training, and strengthening your relationship.

What is Free Work?

ACE Free Work encourages dogs to interact with a variety of objects and surfaces at their own pace. It’s a low-impact activity suitable for all breeds and ages and can be set up anywhere—indoors or out.

Many professional trainers and behaviourists use Free Work, but it’s also something any dog guardian can try. It’s a fantastic way to understand your dog better, develop clearer communication, and help them feel more secure in the world around them.

Do You Know What’s in Our Yellow Space Zones?

Our zones are filled with enriching activities designed to help dogs decompress:
🐾 Sniff out tasty treats
🐾 Lick something soft
🐾 Chew something crunchy
🐾 Nose a food toy around
🐾 Hold a toy in their mouths
🐾 Sniff where other dogs have been
🐾 Climb on a hay bale
🐾 Snuffle in some noisy cardboard
🐾 Sit quietly with their favourite human
🐾 Relax in a cosy shelter

The Power of Choice

Dogs don’t get to make many choices in life, but when they do, it can be transformational. Giving them options builds confidence, increases well-being, and provides us with valuable insights into what they need.

The Yellow Space Zone is lightly screened from the rest of the festival, offering a quiet, secure environment. Many dogs who are too stressed to eat or drink in the busy areas find they can relax enough to do so after just a few minutes here.

A Calming Experience for Both of You

It’s not just for dogs, the Yellow Space Zone is for you too. When your dog relaxes, so do you, creating a positive cycle of calm and connection.

You might also get the chance to chat with expert trainers, like Niki French from Pup Talk, for advice on supporting your anxious dog.

From Miniature Dachshunds to Irish Wolfhounds, dogs of all shapes and sizes find comfort in the Yellow Space Zone. Whether your dog is anxious or just a little over-excited, this space offers them a moment of peace.

Sometimes, all it takes is a quiet moment to reset and enjoy the day together.
